Nikolai Zhernakov Biography

Zhernakov was born on Lomonosov land - in Kholmogory. Back in school, he added to reading, reading it, indiscriminately, but was drawn to the classics. The parents of the parents were large, and the time was difficult, and Nikolai did not have time to grow up, as he had to do to craft.

After graduating from elementary school, he entered a carpentry workshop at the Kholmogorsk orphanage by a twelve -year -old boy. Life taught Nikolai Zhernakov with difficult examples: he worked in a bakery, carpentered, fishing on a dvina with a fishing artel. In the year he moved to Arkhangelsk, worked as a loader, a carpet of cabin and holds on ships, studied at the courses of driver, in German courses.

He served in the army on the Finnish border, and then fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He looked in the face more than once, but he was healed, survived. For military exploits, N. Zhernakov was awarded the orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and the Red Star, as well as many medals. After numerous wounds, it was not immediately possible to find his place in peaceful work.

There was no previous forces for physical work, but in order to do other work, there was not enough education. He studied, as they say, “on the go”, having tried a number of professions, until fate brought him to the district newspaper Kholmogorsk collective farmer, in the staff of the editorial office he worked since the year. This manifested the true talent of Nikolai Zhernakov: the ability to see, understand and paint life, journalistic fighting passion and intransigence to shortcomings.

He was noticed in the regional newspaper, and he was soon approved by his own correspondent of Pravda of the North in the Previnsky districts. The range of vision of the journalist has expanded. From newspaper correspondence, Zhernakov moved to problem essays and began to try his hand in the genre of the story. Passion for word -making lived in it before: in his youth, Nikolai Zhernakov composed poetry.

Now the accumulated life material has found its expression in prose. In the year in the Almanac “North” his first story “Sterlazhniki” was printed, the author was then almost 39 years old. Then there were books of essays, stories and the first large canvas - the story "Sunrise" on collectivization in the north. Very, originally declared himself Zhernakov with a historical story “To be a Russian fleet”.

But, although after a few years he will turn to the historical topic once again - he will publish the story “Onashkino Lake”, the core essence of his work will remain the problems of the Severodvinsky village. They are close to his spiritual and everyday experience. And he sees them widely, promising. In the year, Nikolai Kuzmich Zhernakov was accepted as members of the Writers' Union.

The Kholmogorsk land and people, the peasants of the lower Dvina, the harsh life of the bogans, fishermen and hunters with their hard work, with joys and sorrows, with love and grief became the primary work of the writer Zhernakov. He is a connoisseur of the northern village, a true and inspired singer. The novel “like -minded people” written in the fifties, as it were, continued the conversation about the fate of the inhabitants of the Northern village, begun in the story “Sunrise”.

Then the "Pomeranian winds" appeared, the "violent Padegor" - a kind of chronicle of the Belomorsky village. And with even greater force, the writer's talent was revealed in the Krasnotal trilogy, where epic breadth and scale were connected in the coverage of events with the depth of penetration into the psychology of numerous characters - the inhabitants of the Prevyvinsky village of Gorely Bor.

For this trilogy, N. Zhernakov award was awarded the Arkhangelsk Komsomol. Separate parts of the trilogy were first published in Arkhangelsk, and completely the trilogy first came out at the Sovetskaya Russia publishing house. The North-Western Book Publishing House released her for the seventy anniversary of the author of the year. The stamp of deep penetration into life marks both the novels and the stories of Zhernakov, which included in his book “The Bright Master”, published by the “Soviet Writer” in the year.

The creative activity of Nikolai Zhernakov was successfully combined with his activity in public life. For six years, Nikolai Kuzmich was a member of the Arkhangelsk regional committee of the CPSU, for several years he headed the regional writing organization, for many years he was the chairman of the regional peace protection committee. The creative and social activities of the writer are marked by high awards of the Motherland - orders of the Red Banner of Labor, Friendship of Peoples, “Badge of Honor”.
