Biography Mavrin
Born on February 28 in Kazan. Soviet and Russian rock musician, virtuoso guitarist, composer, sound engineer, radio host. Former member of the Black Coffee and Aria groups. Sergey Mavrin was born on February 28 in Kazan. Father is Konstantin Mavrin. Mother is Mavrin's love. The youngest is Alexander Rod. In adolescence, Sergei Mavrin moved to Moscow with his family. There he received the working profession of a folk collar, having graduated from the corresponding vocational school.
Already from his youth he was passionate about rock music, admiring the work of such groups as Led Zeppelin, Nazareth, Queen and Pink Floyd. Despite the lack of formal musical education, Sergei independently mastered the game on keyboards and guitar, using tutorials and his own desire for music. After serving in the army, which he completed in the mid -eighties, Mavrin began to actively make music.
His professional path started as part of the Black Coffee group, where he received the first experience in a serious team. He later founded his own project called Metalakkord, focusing on a bright and melodic sound. In the year, after the collapse of the first composition of the Aria group, Sergey Mavrin was invited to replace the guitarist Andrei Bolshakov. With his participation, the group recorded three cult albums: “Hero of the asphalt”, “Game with fire” and “Blood for blood”.
Also, in the work on the album “Night is shorter than the day”, Mavrin made his contribution, performing several guitar parties. Sergey became the co -author of the three iconic songs of the team: “Hero of the asphalt”, “Give me a hand” and “Demons”, which he wrote with Vitaly Dubinin. In addition, he put his hand in creating the ballad “Take my heart”.
His participation in Aria has become an important milestone in the history of the group and helped to form its sound. In September, “Aria” went on a tour of Germany, which included seven cities, among which there was Berlin, where a performance took place at the Hard Rock Cafe. However, the tour was accompanied by numerous problems. The organizers did not provide proper conditions, and the musicians were left without fees.
The conflict with the organizers negatively affected the moral state of the group and aggravated the existing disagreements. After the completion of the tour of Germany in the year in Aria, a crisis began. Valery Kipelov actually retired to the group’s affairs: he stopped participating in rehearsals and recording a new album, and also held several concerts with the Master team.
In December, the vocalist and leader of the Legion group Alexei Bulgakov tried as a possible replacement for Kipelov, but this did not lead to specific decisions. In January, Sergey Mavrin decided to leave Aria. He explained his departure by reluctance to continue working in a group without Valery Kipelov, with whom he was creatively and professionally connected.
In the year, Sergei unexpectedly changed the direction of his activity, starting to work with pop artist Dmitry Malikov. As part of his team, Mavrin spent the whole year, which became an unexpected episode in the career of a musician, previously known exclusively as a representative of the rock scene. Sergei Mavrin in his youth in the year Sergey Mavrin and Valery Kipelov decided to join forces, creating a joint project that became an important milestone in their musical careers.
The result of this cooperation was the album "Time of Time", in the work of which Basist Alik Granovsky and drummer Pavel Chinakov took part. The album combined a powerful sound with a lyrical depth characteristic of the work of both musicians. After the success of the "Time of Time", Mavrin decided to develop his own musical path. In the year, he founded a group called "Mauritius" - from his longtime nickname.
The official date of the founding of the collective is considered May 21 of the same year. The vocalist of the group was Arthur Berkut, previously known for working with the Autograph group. The debut album "Maurita", called the "monastery", stood out with a unique approach: almost all tools, except vocals and drums, Mavrin recorded himself. This album differed from the "Time of Troubles" with its more hard rock sound.
A special place in the album was occupied by the instrumental composition “Macadash”, in which Vladimir Kholstinin performed the party on Mandolin, adding a special atmosphere to the work. The next step was the album “Informat-1”, where Stas Vitart recorded vocal parties. However, at concert performances, the group continued to perform with Berkut, which emphasized their close cooperation and stability of the concert composition.
Work on the third album, called “Chemical Dream”, was marked by significant changes in the group. During the record, Arthur Berkut, who was the unchanged vocalist of the team, suddenly disappeared from the studio and stopped participating in record sessions. Sergei Mavrin was forced to make a difficult decision - to part with Berkut, although he later noted that he was completely pleased with his vocal data and professionalism.
The place of the vocalist was taken by Artyom Scharov, with whom the group continued the recording of the album. This album emphasized Mavrin’s desire to expand the musical horizons and give his style of greater depth and power. It was during this period that the group changed the name with Maurik to “Sergey Mavrin”. This decision was made on the recommendation of the IROND Records label, which considered that the name of the famous guitarist would be more recognizable and successful in terms of promotion.
The new name reflected the personal contribution of Mavrin to the project and focused on his personality as the leader of the team. After the completion of the large -scale concert “Judgment Day”, which became a turning point for the Aria group, Valery Kipelov, Sergey Terentyev and Alexander Manyakin, united to create a new group “Kipelov” group. Sergei Mavrin actively participated in the life of the group: he went on a tour with Kipelov in the year, took part in the sign of the single “Babylon” in the year, and also appeared in the video for the song of the same name.
However, a long process of creating new material caused Mavrin discontent. In October, he decided to leave the group in order to focus on his project, finally returning to working with his own group. Meanwhile, his work continued to influence Kipelov. The album of the “River of Times” included the song “The Prophet”, written by Mavrin. In addition, the group was allowed to carry out some of his works at concerts, which emphasized the importance of his contribution to the repertoire of the team.
Sergei Mavrin is known for his unique technique of playing the guitar, which fans call “Mavring”, drawing an analogy with “Tapping”. This technique allows you to extract sounds without a mediator using Legato techniques, such as Hammer-on and Pull-offf, as well as strings without preliminary sound, which in Western terminology is called Hammer-ON COME. The musician himself prefers to use the generally accepted name “Touch-Style”, which translates as “touch style”.
Unlike the classic “two -handed tapping”, in which both hands play an active role, in Mavrin, the main sound recovery occurs with the right hand, and the left hand performs strings. This makes his technique a kind of “one -armed tapping”, which is not related to restrictions, but with the characteristics of the music that he performs. The Mavrin technique allows you to achieve incredible speed, expressiveness and breadth of phrasing, which are usually associated with keyboard instruments.
It was this unusual approach that became his hallmark, highlighting him among other guitarists and enriching the sound of his compositions. Sergei Mavrin actively uses the technique called Touch-Style "Tuchstail", or "touch technique." This technique is different from traditional tapping, which the musician himself emphasizes repeatedly. In it, the emphasis is on sound recovery without a mediator using light blows and jamming of strings.
Unlike many guitarists who use external strings to jam, for example, elastic bands or special devices, Mavrin applies his own techniques to achieve purity of sound, often relying only on hand skill. It is important to note that although the Tachstail technique has become one of the musician’s business cards, he is not limited to this style. Mavrin masterfully owns a game with a mediator, demonstrating a high level of skill and a variety of approaches performed.
This makes him a unique guitarist who can combine different styles and achieve expressive sound, both in solo and in the ensemble game. In the year, the group "Sergey Mavrin" again invited Artyom Oskov as a vocalist. The composition also changes: the place of the bass player was taken by Alexander Shvets, who replaced Alexei Kharkov, who remained working with Kipelov.
Later in the same year, the album “Forbidden Reality” was released, which became commercially successful and fixed the success of the team. The musicians went on a tour in support of the album, drawing attention to their updated sound. However, in the year, Artyom, Scharov was forced to leave the group due to problems with the ligaments that interfered with his performances.
A young vocalist Andrei Lefler came to his place, who at that time was only eighteen years old. The new composition continued creative activity and released the album “Revelation” by the year, which became the next step in the development of the group. In parallel with work on their own projects, the team and Sergey Mavrin as an invited musician took part in the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of the Aria group.
Within the framework of the anniversary tour, they performed in a number of cities of Ukraine, demonstrating their connection with the history of the Russian Hevi-Metal and continuing to strengthen their positions on the stage. In the year, the group "Sergey Mavrin" was actively engaged in studio work, releasing several significant releases. At the beginning of the year, the album “Live” was presented, the uniqueness of which was that the songs were recorded live in the studio, and not at concert venues, which allowed to maintain high quality sound, while conveying the energy of living performance.
The next step was the double instrumental album "Fortune", on which Sergey Mavrin personally recorded the parties of all tools. The album was distinguished by a complex musical structure, combining the elements of neo-classics and the traditional Hevi-metal. The first disk contained new instrumental compositions and instrumental versions of songs from early albums, such as “Informat”.
The second disc was a collection of rare records, including compositions that were previously not published, and materials from the first albums that were rethought and presented in an updated form. The program includes mainly songs from the album “Revelation”, which allowed the audience to evaluate the power and skill of the group in live performance. These releases strengthened the creative reputation of the collective and emphasized his desire for experiments and the expansion of musical horizons.
In February, Andrei Lefler left the group during a tour of the tour, and a new vocalist was accepted in his place - Ilya Lemur. However, in October of the same year, Lemur could not go to a tour due to illness, and Artyom Scharov again performed in his place. Later, Mavrin announced the return of Oskov to the group on an ongoing basis as the main vocalist. In the summer of the year, the group changed the name to simply “Mavrin”, which reflected the further development of the project and its individuality.
In the fall of the year, the group released the album “My Freedom”, which became a significant milestone in the career of the team, expanding its musical horizons. He later took part in the celebration of the Aryan Flight, performing several songs as part of the anniversary concert. In February, Mavrin, along with Aria, went on a joint tour of Israel, which was a vivid moment in the career of the musician and group.
In the year, the Internet syngt of Sergey Mavrin and Pierre Edel called "Hero of the Asphalt" was released. The song was presented in two versions - in Russian and French, which became an interesting step to expand the audience and add international sound to the work of Mavrin. In May of the same year, the album “Inevitable” was released, which was the last for Artyom Oskov as part of the group.
