Before the war, Pavel Kogan was considered one of the best young poets in Moscow. During his lifetime, his poems were not published, although they were popular in the circle of Moscow literary youth. Together with a friend of George Lepsky, he composed several songs, including the song “Brigantine”, which later, already in the years, his fame began ... The Great Patriotic War began.

For health reasons, P. Kogan was recognized as unsuitable for military service, he had very poor vision. But Pavel still got the right to go to the front.
