Soon after his birth, the family moved to Shushu. From early childhood, Uzeir fell in love with folk music. By the age of 12, a talented boy with unique musical abilities sang folk songs perfectly, played on containers. After graduating from a two-year Russian-Tatar school in Shusha, Gadzhibekov continued his studies at the Gori Teacher's Seminary in the year. Here he joined Russian and world culture, met the works of Mozart, Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Bizet, Verdi, who had a huge influence on him.

In Gori, Uzeir mastered the game on the violin, cello and wind instruments, first made notes of folk songs, processed them for the choir. Having graduated from the seminary in the year, Hajibekov of the next few years worked as a teacher in the schools of Gadrut and Baku. At the same time, he became interested in journalism - he worked in various newspapers. In the year, Uzeyr wrote his first work - the opera Leilly and Medzhnun, which became the first opera in the entire East and opened a new page in the history of Azerbaijani music.

The premiere took place on the stage of the Baku Drama Theater and passed with great success. Having decided to get a systematic musical education, Uzeyr in the year went to Moscow and entered private music courses for A. Ilyinsky under the Philharmonic Society, and then continued his education at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Returning to Baku in the year, he continued his journalistic activity - was the editor -in -chief, and then the owner of the newspaper Yeni Igbal, later - the editor of the newspaper Azerbaijan.

After the October Revolution of the year and the establishment of Soviet power in the Republic of Soviet power, Hajibekov contributed to the development of musical education and gave a lot of effort to the development of professional musical art of Azerbaijan.

Despite the greater public work, Gadzhibekov continued to write.

A large number of articles were devoted to the most diverse issues of the musical culture of the republic, the study of folk music. The best work of this period of User, as a composer, is considered his opera Kerogly, he was also the author of the libretto to many of his works. During the Great Patriotic War, the composer created a number of patriotic works: songs, Kantata “Homeland and the Front”, as well as the romances-Gazella “Without you” and “Beloved”, and by the Day of Victory the Victory Anthem “Victory”.

Hajibekov devoted his whole life to the development of musical culture. In his work, Western and Oriental musical styles were connected, the elements of Azerbaijani folk music were adapted to him to classical European traditions. Although the main contribution of the composer is in the field of the development of the National Musical Theater, but at the same time, many works were created in other genres, in particular, he is the author of music for films, music of the state anthem of Azerbaijan.

He also belongs to a large number of scientific, satirical and newspaper articles. He is the author of the books-“The Russian-Turkic and Turkic-Russian Dictionary of Political, Legal, Economic and Military Terms”, “Questions of Arithmetic”, “Fundamentals of Azerbaijani Folk Music”. Useir Gadzhybekov died on November 23 in Baku, where he was buried in the Honorary Burial Alley. In memory of the composer, his name was assigned to the Azerbaijan State Conservatory and the Symphony Orchestra, the Music School and the Academy, the Swimwear and the Avenue in Baku.

For cultural figures of the republic, a prize named after Uzeyra Gadzhibekov was installed, in the cities of Baku and Shusha, the houses-museums of his name were opened, the monuments are erected in Vienna and Baku.
